model 47 and barrel
A good friend is willing to sell me his model 47 and a never installed factory uncut barrel. He said "you set the price". As the model is not in the Blue Book and there are few around I don't know where to begin. As for the barrel, I think I'll call Turnbull restorations as they are not far from here. Any thoughts? I've looked up the information in my Brophy book about the history so I know the why of the model but not the wherefor.
This is a tough call due to the lack of mention in print as you have pointed out. I have seen them offered for sale from 150 to 1450. Last I knew, the 1450 specimen had not sold.
Condition is of utmost importance here as is the condition of the striped color casing. Since you mention sending it to Turnbull's, I'm guessing the CC is faded to one degree or another which will put the price very much closer to the 150 mark than the 1450.
I would guess the barrel somewhere in the 50 - 100 dollar range, but that is by no means the final word on the matter. SW
