Original Model 1894 complete disassembly instructions

I would like to find out how to completely disassemble my recently acquired original Model 1894, 32-20, to lighten the trigger. It must be about 6 pounds but when it goes, breaks beautifully. Thank you very much.

I can give you instructions.
1. Remove the screw that holds the buttstockon. Located right behind the hammer. Be careful not
to damage the buttstock when removing.
2. Remove the lever screw located in the junction where it pivots up & down to work the action.
This should be done with the action partially open.
3. Grasp the square case hardened bolt from the back & pull it towards you. Then the bolt will
be free from the receiver. Make sure to remove the ejector. It is located on the inside of the
reciever & should fallout. It is shaped like a "V".
4. Swing the mainspring to one side of the receiver. This is best done when the hammer is all the
way closed. One point I forget. When removing the bolt the hammer should at full cock.
5. Remove the screw holding the trigger plate. This located by the serial number. Also if the gun
has a screw on the left side of receiver remove it.
6. Remove the hammer screw. You need a small punch to remove it. Take the hammer out.
7. Grasp the trigger plate at the lower tang. It should come out without too much effort.
8. When the trigger plate is removed reach into the reciever & pull the locking bolt out.
9. Remove the carrier screw on the right of receiver. Then the carrier can be removed.
These instrucions should enable you to dissamble your gun. When putting it back together start
with the carrier & then the locking bolt. Then put the tigger plate back on. then the hammer.
I usually all screws fairly loose until I replaced the casehardened bolt & the lever. then tighten
the screws. Make sure to replace the ejector. Good luck! The Marlins are a lot easier to take down
then a Winchester!
