I have a Model 101 and would like to re-finish the wood stock. My question, can any one tell me what type of wood Marlin used on this model. I thought at first it might be Walnut but the more I look at the grain it appears to be Oak? Any information is appreciated.
Thanks,
Mr. Bill

Re: Model 101 wood stock
Mr. Bill;
Usually, if Marlin made a gun stock out of something not walnut, then they used birch. It is a hard wood, and works for many purposes.

Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!
