Early Marlin 336 screw problem

Post by Deadeyesteve62 »

Hello I have a Marlin 336 with a number on the bolt that is M3404! Seems like 1955 to me. I tried replacing the carriage bolt and it just does not seem to want to screw in! Is it possible the older screw was different? I am thinking of anyone knows it would be someone on this sight. Any help would be appreciated as this is my absolute favorite deer rifle. Thanks in advance

As far as I know they have never changed the carrier screw since the Model 1893. But give Larry Osborn the Marlin screw guy a call and ask him. Maybe he knows more? He's in Idaho at 208-651-6300.
