Marlin A1 question

Post by 4065tom »

While researching my newly acquired A1(which I have identified as a 1936 model, based on fluted stock, rear safety, 7 shot mag). I came across a posted page from a 1936 Marlin catalog, which used the term Mar-in-lay in describing the gun. Does anyone know what that is? My rifle has a light area on both sides of the pistol grip, that is shaped like a checkering panel, as well as a light diamond shape under the forearm. Sorry don't know how to attach pics. Thanks Tom
