Hi All,
I was given a non-functional Marlin model 1893, caliber 38-55, From the serial number (347281) it was manufactured in 1906.
The markings on the top of the barrel are: " Marlin Fire-Arms Co., New-Haven, CY. USA" ; " Pat'D Oct 11. 1887. April. 2.1889 Aug. 1. 1893"; "- For Black Powder - " 38-55". The Marking on top of the receiver is:" Marlin Safety".
The riffle is in decent shape all around, however I am missing quite a few parts from the receiver.
I am looking for the following parts:
- Firing Pin – front – (.092 dia. tip)
- Firing Pin Spring
- Carrier
- Carier screw
- Locking Bolt
- Hammer Screw
- Main spring – (straight grip)
- Main spring Screw
From my research online, I was able to find a receiver for a 32 special caliber and a 30-30 WCF. My question is: Will this work for a 38-55 chambered riffle ?
Also, I have found 3 main sources for parts: Numrich, WisnerJack and First Gun Parts. None of them have everything I am looking for. Do you know of any Marlin Lever Wreckers that might help me source these missing parts ?
Thanks

Marlin Lever Wreckers live large on ebay. I've bought more Marlin parts there than anywhere else.
I'm confident that .30=30 and .32 Sp parts will work with your .38-55.

Carriers for the .30-30 and .32 Win. Spl. may not give reliable feeding for an 1893 in .38-55 cartridges. They have different carriers for the larger .38-55 cases.
I would suggest you call or email Larry Osborn in Hayden Lake, Id. Larry has a lot of screws, but also some good used parts too.
