It is a Marlin 39-A, serial #279. He bought it at age 18 in 1938, and I bought it from his estate 12 years ago when he passed away at 91. It shoots like a dream, and came with lots of pics and handwritten letters. It is also in a book called, “Guns that Talk”. Condition is very good to excellent. Anyone have an idea what it might be worth? Also, are the records still available when he bought it? I know the book value, but collector items are a different thing. Would like your opinion on a fine gun
Ok, this wasn’t the most famous gun in the world…..but it was owned by John Hart, who played the Lone Ranger for 52 episodes and has a long resume. And a star on the Hollywood walk of fame.
