Model 1893. Headspace and shells shearing

Hi group.
What are my options for repair?
I have an issue whereby every couple spent rounds will eject sheared in half. Half will remain in the barrel preventing a new round going in, and half (back half) will eject.
It has been suggested that I have a headspace issue.
Can this be repaired?

Yes, but it will require setting the barrel back one full thread and rechambering to correct it. That means the forearm wood will need to also be shortened slightly, and the back of the mag tube too. The other option is to just have the barrel relined, and leave the rest alone, which is the best option, and least intrusive.

Thank you. Is there a way short of going to a gun shop that I can be certain of the caliber that it is made for? I was told its a 30-30, and have fired some 30-30 rounds, but now, might need to be sure.

You can check the factory records for your serial number, and if not to high a number, the records should tell you what caliber your rifle left the factory.

Have you looked closely at the top of the barrel just in front of the receiver? They have the cartridge chambering stamped there, and often it's faint, but a magnifying glass might help.

I checked for that caliber stamping on top of the barrel in front of the receiver and it just has a 'O'.
