Marlin 39A serial number dating

I acquired a 39A in a trade. It appears to be very old. The rifle has only 3 digits in the serial number clearly stamped on the rear stock tang under the lever. The numbers are 590. These are the only numbers I can find on this rifle. Can anyone date this gun for me? Thank you.

You may have a Marlin 39A made in 1939.. first year production. It should have a case hardened receiver, lever and hammer, "s" shaped pistol grip stock and round blued 24" barrel....
