I have inherited this gun from my father. I cannot find any information on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Waltonbuilding;

Your Marlin Model 39-A with a "C" prefix serial number was made in 1946. It will have the old style Ballard rifling instead of the newer, patented Micro-Groove rifling that came out in 1954.
This may be a 2nd variation of the Model 39-A with a case-colored receiver and a flat bottom pistol grip stock. The 1st variation had a case-colored receiver but had the old style flat "S" pistol grip stock . The 3rd variation of the 39-A had a blued receiver and flat bottom pistol grip stock and larger forearm.

There is no "A", just 39- stamped on the barrel

Early 39A did not have the "A" on the barrel, but that's still a 39A.
