Model 44 problem
I just bought a model 44 two barrel set. Problem is that it does not rack after the hammer fall. It will rack normally if I use the release. Do I have a simple problem? I have not taken it apart. Anyone have this problem before?

Jfky;
You do not have a problem. Marlin shotguns were specially made with what was called a "Hang Fire Safety" in that the action could not be opened unless the gun was fired. If there was a hang fire, or if the gun needed to be opened without firing, then the safety release must be activated in order to open the action.

Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!
