Marlin Model 70 HELP with slide release

Hello, first time poster here. I just got a Marlin model 70 .22 cal semi auto rifle. I got it used. Today I was cleaning it and pulled the slide open to do so. The slide stayed open and I didn't think anything of it, but now I cannot get it to close. I tried everything I know. I tried it with and without the clip instered. With the safety on and off. Tried it while holding the trigger down. Nothing worked. I do not see and slide release mechanisms. HELP PLEASE!!!

Try pulling back on the bolt handle and then pulling the bolt handle out.This should release the bolt.
