Model 93

Post by JMK »

I recently bought a deluxe Model 93--Serial Number 388572. Can anyone tell me when it was made.

Thank you,

Jim;

The old Marlin records end at 355,500 in December of 1906. Your gun, being about 33,000 numbers higher will probably make this gun sometime in 1908. Most likely, early in the year.
I hope this helps.

Model 1893

Not that it makes any difference, but I took the tang sight off today and it is marked Model 1893. Does this have any bearing on the rifle's value?

Thanks,

Jim;

I would expect a gun in the serial number range given to be marked Model 1893 and not Model '93. I wondered about that subject line when I first responded. I really thought it would be a Model 1893 and not a Model '93. As to value difference, it is only a good thing to be marked Model 1893 as it makes it the earlier gun, made prior to 1921.
I hope this helps.
