Marlin Break Action 30-30

Post by polkh »

Picked up a break action single shot Marlin chambered for 30-30. Model Number on the barrel states 30AW. Any ideas as to what this rifle is? Are there alternate barrels available with other calibers? I cannot find any info anywhere on this thing.

This is a new one on me! The 30AW was a lever action Marlin as far as I know. Are you sure that someone didn't fit a Marlin barrel to another single shot action?
Marlin lever actions 1870's-WWI, Ballards, and single shot rifles!

The 30AW was a less expensive lever-action made for Wal-mart, IIRC. Have you a pic of the firearm in question? SW

Unless the newer H&R 1871 break-open Handi-Rifles are being stamped with Marlin's name, since Marlin aquired the company a ways back.

I wouldn't think Marlin would stamp another model number on the barrel even if they started stamping their name on it.
