Help! When did wide-scan, short-ramp from sights first appear on 39A's?
Thanks.

Looking through the old Marlin catalogs, I find that the change from the long ramp to the short ramp is between 1968 and 1969. The '68 catalog shows guns with the long ramp and the '69 catalog shows the short ramp.
The "Wide-Scan" front sight hood was new for 1973, according to the old Marlin catalogs.
I hope this helps.

Wide-Scan Front Sight
Very helpful, as always. This particular piece of information was not included in Bill Brophy's book. The reason I asked is that the '77 39A ("Original Golden") that I just bought had the wide-scan front sight. The gun was advertised with pictures only and no SN, so I had to try and deduce its DOB from the gun's features with the help of Bill Brophy's book. The book helped me peg the DOB between '72 and '79, but the front sight was still an unanswered question. Thanks for answering it!
