How old is my Marlin Model 39 22 cal Serial # 5775
I inherited a Marlin Model 39 22 caliber rifle. It has walnut wood and octagonal barrel. it isn't mint but in pretty good condition. The only serial number I can find under the lever action is just 4 numbers. #5775. Can anyone please tell me how old it is?

Carpy;
The Marlin Model 39 without a serial number prefix(s) was made between 1921 and 1925. Your rifle with a serial number in the 5700 range would possibly been made sometime between 1922 and 1923. There are no records for this era, so we can only estimate from the known serial number ranges that do exist.

Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

I also have a model 39 takedown with octagon barrel. Serial number prefix first is H.S 19875. I have looked everywhere for years on more info but no luck. This was my great grandfather's gun I would really like to know more about it thank you!

Since it has the HS prefix it should date to the early 1930's.BUCKHUNTER405 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 2:16 pm I also have a model 39 takedown with octagon barrel.
