What year and value is my Marlin Ballard 32-40

Post by Mudjoe1 »

Trying to find some info in a gun I recently purchased. It's a Marlin Ballard 32-40. It's supposed to be 1879 but not sure. It has a sn 19008. Not sure how to figure it out. Any info would be helpful. Trying to figure out value and year. Thanks. I can't figure out how to add a picture. Lol

Serial numbers on Ballard rifles can help date them, but since there are duplicate ranges when the company changed from JM Marlin to Marlin Firearms Co. I need to know which marking is on your Ballard.
Additionally Marlin made over a dozen different models, plus special order rifles, so without good pictures I can't even tell you which model you have, or if it's original or not; let alone the value.
Need to either post images, or send them to me to take a guess at values.
