Marlin 1894 32-20 questions

Post by silicosys4 »

Hello everyone, happy holidays,
I picked this Marlin up recently as a shooter, SN 147,XXX I have an 1873 in the same caliber and even though the Marlin is roughly the same age as the 1873 it looks to have been maintained better, as the bore is still shiny while the Winchester is pretty rough. I will say that the Marlin with a 24" octagon barrel is lighter in the hands than the 1873 with a 20" barrel.
I don't know much about the Marlin, but it looks to be all original, with some traces of the CCH still in protected areas.
Is it worth restoring? Worth having the stock repaired, if its possible to have repaired? Its solid as is, just ugly.
I was kind of toying with the idea of sending it to Wyoming Armory for restoration as its shooter grade now, imo, and I'd love to have it looking like it did 100 years ago.
Thank you all for any info that you might have.
