1894 value?

Post by Seth »

There's a very nice 1894 in 357 mag at the gunship. Its owner owns the gunshop, so I doubt very highly it's anything other than a nice gun. It is a JM version, and he said he "restored" it. Not sure what that means. It looks close to new, still used, but not much. Asking price $1200. Decent price?

Generally "restored" guns have not gotten the same money an original of equal condition will get. On most occasions the restorations rarely look exactly like the original factory finish. Sometimes better, sometimes not, but either will affect the value.
Without seeing a picture of this restored 1894, it's impossible to give an accurate assessment of it's value. But I'd think $1200 would easily buy a very nice original, unrestored 1894 in .357, so sounds high to me.
Marlin lever actions 1870's-WWI, Ballards, and single shot rifles!
