I have Marlin with a serial number of 97395. What caliber might this be and when was it made. I think the year is 1894. It was gifted to me with no information.

Factory records show that serial number 97395 is a Model 1893. It was shipped in late 1893 in .32-40 caliber in a 26 inch octagon barrel.

I see you say a octagon barrel. The barrel i have is round.
