Marlin 39A

Post by Cha »

I recently acquired a 39A which I believe was manufactured in 1945 (capital C) and is in really good condition and I’m curious as to about what it’s worth.
I will upload pictures as soon as I figure out how

Might take a closer look at the prefix letter. The white line spacers on buttplate and pistol grip would indicate a much later 39A.

Cha;

marlinman is correct, this is alter Model 39-A. The white line spacer was added to the butt plate in 1951, but not the pistol grip cap. That was added to the grip cap in 1957.
The only explanation for the "C" serial number and the white line spacers is that the butt stock has been replaced. You might want to remove the butt stock and see if it is numbered to the gun.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!
