Marlin Model 93 manufacture date

Post by MikeJordan »

I know that this is probably a sore subject, but how do I determine the manufacture date if the recorded serial numbers stop in 1906? I am purchasing a model 93 in very good condition with a serial number of 425,754. The seller states that it was manufactured "circa 1906". would that be accurate?

Mike;

The seller is wrong. A Marlin with a serial number in the 425,000 range is later, the date would approximately be about late 1911 or early 1912. The gun will be a Model 1893, not a Model '93.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!
