I have been pouring my own hard cast bullets and interested in launching some 500 grain torpedos from my Marlin. Does anyone know what the maximum CUP the Marlin can handle is?
My lyman book says max pressure for 405 grainers is 27,500 for the 1895 - There are loads for the Ruger in 500 grainers that show pressure is 22,900 to 27,500 so I am assuming no problem but looking for some confirmation.
Thanks

Re: MARLIN 1895GBL MAX CUP
Before you load any 500 grain bullets in your Marlin, better be sure that big slug will cycle through the action without issues! Most lever actions in .45-70 wont cycle the longer 500 gr. bullets because OAL will be longer than the action is set up for.
Marlin lever actions 1870's-WWI, Ballards, and single shot rifles!
