Marlin Model 100

Post by crimsontidefan »

I recently was given a Model 100 22 from my Aunt and was wondering how can I tell the age of this? She has estimated it to be between 60-70. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

It's not easy to pin down a YOM on these. They were made from 1935 to 1959. There were 3 models as far as I know. The 1st model had a knurled take down screw head that projected from the stock. The second model was different by a flush take down screw head, and the 3rd model had a white line spacer and ramp front sight.

The stock was reportedly not walnut until 1956. In 1954, the rifling was changed to micro-groove. In 1947, the model 100 was illustrated in the catalog with a plastic trigger guard - before that, it was of stamped metal.

I realize this is sketchy information, but you may get some clues from it. SW
