Model 1889 carbine on Gunbroker
Did any of you notice the pretty Marlin 1889 src currently on Gunbroker? It is SN 86394 and it was listed in a Julia auction several years ago as "Turnbull style restored". Though it did not sell, it had a pre-sale estimate of $4000-$7000. There is no SN on the stock and the forend has an incorrect shape. The fancy wood is beautiful but likely replaced. Seller claims gun is original and near mint. If you value originality, buyer beware!!

Bbsoda;
Obviously totally refinished. No saddle ring carbine from 1895 would not have some sort of marring on the side of the receiver where the saddle ring rubs against the receiver. Notice it is " As Is-No Refunds" , meaning he knows it is not factory "Mint" as he claims. Anyone that is foolish enough to buy this has no chance of getting any satisfaction from this seller. They are just screwed!

Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

It's sellers like that one who leave a sour taste in my mouth. They're also the type who take advantage of the uneducated new buyer, and ensure that the whole hobby has a bad reputation. I wish there was a way to warn buyers at the person's auction.
Marlin lever actions 1870's-WWI, Ballards, and single shot rifles!

What is the value of a refinished gun like this as cowboy action shooter?
