M1893 Marlin Lever Special Take Down

Post by sbarky »

I have a Model 1893 "Special"..Take-down version...lever action Rifle..with 26" semi-octagon barrel...checked stock & forearm..caliber 38-55..Serial number 366516...Marlin Company stamped...98%blue and case hardening..shiney smooth stock wood...very minty condition.

What year was this manufactured?? Any idea of value in this condition?
Thanks.

Sbarky;

The factory records end at 355,500 in December of 1906. Your rifle with a serial number in the 366,000 range most likely would have been shipped in mid to late 1907.
Most of those here do not want to give an estimation of value without seeing some photos of the piece in question. Ones person estimate of the amount of original blue and case-coloring can and is usually different than someone else's opinion.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

The growing federal deficit = generational slavery to the national debt.

Especially so with case colors! I've rarely seen 98% case colors that were original. But I've had numerous people tell me their gun was "perfect case colors" only to finally see the guns and discover they were far less.
Would love to see pictures of the gun in this post, as it would be great to see case colors that nice!

I guess we would all like to see this gun. 98% condition is a pretty rare gun. If you can't figure how to post pictures you can send them to me and I will post for you.
