Introduction and Question -

Post by billbaileys »

Hi everyone. My name is Will and I am from AZ. I have always loved (older) Marlin rifles. A friend wants to sell this rifle and I want to give him a good ballpark price to ask for it. It is a rifle length Model 1983 in 30-30. Made 1898. I have always gone to the experts when I have a question, and you guys are the experts as far as I am concerned. Thanks

If it has a good bore, the value will be best. The stock repair hurts the value a fair amount as it needs to be addressed with a better repair, or replaced stocks. A friend just bought a very similar 1893 off GB for under $800 and it has very nice stocks, and the desirable .38-55 caliber. Your friend's gun gets a little boost from the 1898 date, but with the stock issue I'd say it's a $500 gun, or there abouts.
