New Member Old gun

Found on a wall marlin 1888 lever act. 23 inch hex barrel. In 38-55. It is dirty and needs a new fire pin but I think I can save it.

What makes you think it's an 1888 gun? That model wasn't made in that caliber. Could be model 1881 or model 1893.

Ser # 20330 made in 88. I don't know the model #.

That serial number belongs to a Marlin Model 1881. It left the factory in New Haven, Ct. in late 1888 with a 24 inch octagon barrel (no such thing as a hex barrel) in .38-55 caliber.
Wisner's Inc. will have a firing pin for your Model 1881. ( www.wisnersinc.com )
