Curious to see what kind of responses I get regarding a Marlin 1893 I have. I will upload picture of the serial number but regarding the rest of the firearm, It says Marlin 1893 on the tang. The barrel is 24" with a 2/3 magazine and says "Marlin 36-A-DL-30-30CAL--A. Is this simply a re-barrel of an 1893? The serial number is 143338 but the "1" is larger than the rest of the serial number "43338" and slightly off set. See pic. Thanks for any help or information regarding either serial number from Marlin's archives.

375Wheelen;
Too bad! Originally it was an 1893 in .30-30 caliber with a 28 inch octagon barrel and pistol grip stock, shipped in early 1897.
If it were a Model 336-A DL, the serial number would have been under the lever, and not up by the forearm. At some point in time, a 336-A DL front end (barrel, magazine tube and forearm) was put onto your Model 1893.

Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!
