Best 44-40 Modern Commercial Loads

Post by Savvy Jack »

Which modern commercial loads would be best for shooting in an original 1889 44-40 manufactured in 1891 without in any way hurting the gun?

My interest would be for an occasional close range deer hunt or cowboy target.

Thanks

something like this?

Curtiss -p6e Hawk,

Those should be fine in your rifle AS LONG AS IT'S IN GOOD CONDITION. I'm not sure for deer hunting though. You might want to check your state laws to see if they specify a certain minimum muzzel energy. Because of their lower velocity hese may not make the cutoff.
