Marlin 30-30 Model #36G Stamped JM on right side of barrel. Serial # begins with AA

I keep seeing forums and articles about this rifle that say this lever action is relatively rare. I just can’t seem to find anything definitive on it.

Marlin 30-30 Model 36G with a JM stamped on the right side of the barrel.

Thanks for any info.

Joe W;

The Marlin Glenfield Model 36G was made from 1964 to 1965 as an inexpensive version of the Marlin Model 336. The main difference being that the Model 336 had a walnut stock and the 36G had a walnut stained hardwood,( usually birch ) stock.
The price in 1964 was $83.95 and was $1.00 higher in 1965. There were 5,930 of the Model 36G's made during the production run and was replaced by the Model 30 in 1966.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

The growing federal deficit = generational slavery to the national debt.

If the world was perfect.......it wouldn't be.

Rare as in using the designation for just the two years. But not rare really as the features are similar to subsequent Glenfield Marlins sold later under different model designations. In this case rare doesn't really mean added value.
Marlin lever actions 1870's-WWI, Ballards, and single shot rifles!
