Serial Number/Rifling for an 1895CB

Post by VAUGHN P. JONES »

I am considering an 1895 CB serial number 91060xxx in .45-70 and have two questions:

1 Was it made prior to the takeover by Remington
2 Is the rifling Ballard or Microgroove

The seller states it has a JM number, whatever that is.

I want to bid today, January 10, 2015, if possible.

Vaughn P. Jones;

The 91 in the serial number indicates this Model 1895 CB was made in 2009, and by Marlin. It will have the Ballard, cut style rifling.
Good luck bidding.....

1985 CB 45-70
Do all serial numbers that start with the 9 mean they were made in 2009 Mine is 95207xxx. It has JM stamped on it and has an octagon barrel

Bob;

No. Your Model 1895 CB with a serial number beginning with 95 means it was manufactured in 2005. Subtract the first two digits from 100, i.e. 100 - 95 = 5 or 2005.

Howdy all,

Just purchased a 1895 CB with a serial # 991260XXB
Does this mean that it was made in 2011? or 2001?

Thanks very much in advance.
