WESTERNFIELD 30-30

Post by Shurshot »

Recently purchased a Westernfield 30-30 model 740A-EMN serial # 69-29342 from a local gun dealer. Would like information regarding year and quanity produced for Westernfield.
Gun has a walnut stock and in very good condition with no visible wear. I believe this model was sold by Wards? and is a Marlin model 336.

Great site !! :)

I show that model as being made for Wards in 1964 & 65. Nothing is chiseled in stone on these contracts, though. There is nothing in print of the actual number made, but I believe it to be small. Possibly 2000 or less. Wards didn't sell as many guns as Sears. I recall looking through the catalogs as a child ( wish books ) and Sears always had more firearms.

You are correct that it is a 336. It should have a recoil pad which is the way Wards wanted them. SW

Bargain

...And these are often a great "bargain" as a "shooter" since the house brand brings less on the used market than a Marlin stamped 336. Buy it and shoot the heck out of it. They are great!
