Marlin 1898 hammer pump shotgun

Looking for two pieces if any one can hel i would greatly apreciate it. i am only missing the rubber shoulder pad on the butt stock and i have a small piece of medal that i dont know what it is but its under the hammer covered by the wooden buttstock. it snapped in half just want to restore this thing any help would be great.

A good reproduction butt plate can be found at www.gungrip.com. You will need to get one that is listed for the Model 17 Marlin shotgun. It will have "Marlin" written in script across the bottom of the toe.
The piece that snapped may be the main spring. I tried to compare a Model 1898 main spring to a Model 1893 main spring, and they do appear to be quite close in length. So, if you want, you may try for a Model 1893 main spring from Wisners (www.wisnersinc.com). Go to the "Rifle" section, then "Marlin" and finally to "Centerfire" and look for a main spring for the Model 1893.
