Hi,
Hoping to get some info from Gunrunner on a Marlin Model 1898 Pump S/N 19786 Barrel Serial number = 20368 F (thanks in advance). The patent dates are: 11/6/1894, 5/12/1896, & 6/2/1896.
Other questions:
Question 1: Am I correct in assuming the following: Model = 1898 and Grade = A?
Question 2: Any idea of value range?
Thanks,
Harlan

Re: Info on a Marlin Model 1898 Pump Shotgun
Hwmitche;
You do indeed have a Marlin Model 1898, exposed hammer pump action shotgun, in the "A" grade. It was shipped in early 1901 with a 30 inch barrel. Your barrel is the original barrel by serial number that was supplied with that receiver.
Your barrel looks shorter than 30 inches, and I do not see a front sight bead, making me believe it may have been shortened, and if it has, that will affect the value.
I hope this helps.

Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

Thanks for information Gunrunner, your service to this forum is much appreciated! It is actually the full 30" barrel and has the front bead, just rotated in the picture so you can't see.
Thanks,
Harlan
