Model 16 or Model 30 Shotgun?

Post by cajun100 »

hammer model Marlin pump, serial no. 61701
patent dates 1894, 1896, 1896
16 gauge stamped on top receiver
no checkering on wood
rings embossed on slide

Any help from those here on date manufactured and actual model?

Many thanks.

Cajun100;

The Marlin Model 16 (which is what you have) was made from 1903 to 1910. Your particular Model 16 was made in mid-1904. The barrel serial number should be 64296 and was 28 inches long when it left the factory.
I hope this helps.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

Many thanks for the information. And delivered so quickly.

And yes, I am aware of the cautions from Marlin and others about using these old guns.
