I looked for a serial number, can't find one, there are initials JM inside a circle, on the left side of the barrel , how can I find out what type of choke it has? The gun is in excellent+ condition, Any information on this shotgun would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jim

Re: Marlin model 55, 28" barrell, Gold trigger
Jim;
The Marlin Model 55 Hunter bolt action shotgun was made from 1954 to 1964. The guns with a 28 inch barrel that did not have the adjustable choke were bored with a full choke.
Since these guns were made prior to 1968, it will not have a serial number as it was not required then. There were 61,973 of the 12 gauge, non-adjustable choke guns made during the production run.
I hope this helps.

Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!
