i have a bolt action marlin 12 gauge with a rifled barrel,
what kind/type of ammunition is the best to run thru this gun?
ive heard theorys about rifled slugs, and sabot slugs,
i want to make sure im not going to damage the barrel.
thanks!

I am no expert, but as far as I know all rifled shotgun barrels are for slugs or sabots. There is no need for riflings, for shot shells, and you could damage your riflings if you shoot shot shells through them.
If you would like, I am sure you can purchase a smooth bore barrel for shot shells depending on the year and model of the firearm.

Rifled barrels are best with sabots or even round balls. I would not shoot rifled slugs in a rifled bore.
Marlin bolt action rifled slug guns do not use interchangeable barrels.
