Marlin Model 90 without a Web

I am beginning to question the conventional thinking that Marlin did not start making Model 90's without a web between the barrels until after 1949.

I have a Model 90, 16 ga., serial number D184, (all numbers match) that has a web between the barrels. I just bought a Model 90, 12 ga., serial number D1477, (all numbers match) that is open between the barrels. It is my understanding that Model 90's with Dxxx serial numbers were made in 1947.

Anyone else own a Model 90 having a serial number between Axxx and Exxx that is open between the barrels? Just curious.
