Model 1898 manufacture date

Post by JWR4 »

My Marlin 1898 barrel serial number is 68889 F. On the bottom of the receiver is 66359. Are these the original barrel/receiver numbers for this shotgun? What year was it made? Also, what is the chamber size of this 12 gauge? It has a pistol grip stock. No checking or engraving.

JWR4;

Your Marlin Model 1898 has the original barrel that it left the factory with in mid-1904. The chamber size will accommodate a 2 3/4 inch shell.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

The growing federal deficit = generational slavery to the national debt.
