Model 24 shotgun dating

Post by Arctic »

I recently acquired a Model 24 from a local swap meet, and I've had no luck in dating this piece.
I was curious if anyone with more knowledge on the subject could confirm it's date.
It's serial number is 101313, with it's latest patent date on the barrel as 1904.
Thank you for your time.

Arctic;

The Marlin Model 24, exposed hammer, 12 gauge pump action shotgun was listed in the Marlin catalogs from 1908 to 1917. From the serial number listed, your shotgun would apparently be in early production era, around 1909 or so, possibily a little earlier. There are no records past serial number 67,000, so we can only estimate the date.
I hope this helps.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!
