SG Serial Numbers

Post by atvmudder »

Does anyone have a listing of end of year (or begining of year) serial number listing for year identification on shotguns?

Brophy's book provides the annual cutoff split for modern shotguns (such as the model 120)... I think the older models are only known by range of serial numbers and total block years of manufacture; some interpretation required. Post your model and serial number (use "X" for the last few digits) here; someone can give you an answer if you don't have access to a copy of Brophy.

I do have the Brophy book. But I am working on putting together a serial number by year reference for the shotguns. Trying to re-build some of the lost records. If there are only ranges of years that will be a start.

Moose22969;

According to the Brophy book, a Model 120 with an "A" prefix and the serial number in the 13,000 range would have been manufactured in 1973.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!
