"Grading" of Model 19 12ga ?

Post by Uncle Joe »

How do I determine grade (A,B,C,D) of my Model 19 hammer pumpgun?Model stated of receiver tang, THREE ducks on left side of receiver and two unidentified birds On right side.
How does one characterize the grades (If somebody has the time to reply).
Thanks very much and God Bless the USA, the 4th Armored Division and the PABST BREWING COMPANY

Model 19 Engraving

Post by Don Anderson »

Hi Uncle Joe:

I would venture to say it's a "C" grade, which featured, along with the engraving, checkered wood and select figured walnut butt stock and fore arm. The "D" grade would normally have a Damascus barrel with imported Circassian Walnut wood and a London dull oil finish. Also, again normally, the "D" grade had more elaborate engraving with gold trigger and screw heads.

Uncle Joe;

Definitely a "C" grade shotgun. I went and looked at my Model 1898, and it would appear that the two birds look like some kind of dove. Don is correct on the other factors. I hope this helps.

P.S. Thank you for your service to our country..........
