Grandpa's Model 16

Post by JIMINIL »

I received a great gift for Christmas this year. My uncle gave me my grandfather's Marlin shotgun. The barrel is stamped 16Ga on the top of the barrel near the receiver. The number on the barrel is 102308F and measures 28" in length. I gather this is a full choke 16 ga barrel. The receiver is stamped with the serial no. A31882. The barrel has three patent dates stamped on top. The are worn, but appear to be Nov 6,1894, May 12,1896, & June 2, 1896. It is in fair shape. No parts missing and functions smoothly. Only problem is butt plate is from a Browning? Barrel has a bead at the end of the barrel as well as one in the middle. I would like to know any info available such as year of mfg, grade, etc. Also interested in the value. Also would like opinions on restoration and shooting.
