Ballard 45-70 govt

Post by TheBlanch »

I received a Ballard rifle from my father its a 45-70 GOVT, 32' heavy octo barrel. It has no rod or attachment for one. Single trigger. Beyond that I have no info on the gun. I have been trying to find out what model it is with very little success. It looks a lot like the #3 model but I dont know for sure. Pictures to follow. Thanks

TheBlanch;

With a full octagon barrel and single trigger, it sounds like a Number 4 Perfection Ballard. The earlier 1 1/2 and 1 3/4 Ballards had round barrels with single trigger and none of these Ballards have the cleaning rod mounted under the barrel like a 4 1/4, Pacific or a Monana Ballard.
Pictures should clarify the situation....
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

The growing federal deficit = generational slavery to the national debt.

If the world was perfect.......it wouldn't be.
