.32 chambering

Post by publius »

I recently got a .32 cal. Ballard and would like to know how to tell if it is for the 32 Ballard XL or standard 32 Long Colt? The only markings on the gun is BALLARD on the left side of the receiver and the serial# on the bottom of receiver.

Best way is to measure the depth of the chamber and compare it to the data for .32 Long or .32 Ballard XL. But if you can find someone who has a case for the new Ruger .320 you can see if it chambers. The .320 is almost identical to the old .32 Ballard XL.
Marlin lever actions 1870's-WWI, Ballards, and single shot rifles!
