any info on this rifle would be greatly appreciated the number on the underside is 378329 it has a octagon barrel i got this from my grandfather

Unfortunately, that serial number is too high for existing Marlin Factory Records. We can estimate the date of manufacture as the records do end in December of 1906, with numbers in the 355,500 range. Your gun, with a number in the 378,000 would most likely have been made in late 1907 or early 1908.
Standard Model 1894's were made with either a 24 inch round or octagon barrel sporting Rocky Mountain front and rear sights. A straight grip stock with a steel, crescent buttplate.
