1893 410 Lever Action

I have an model1893 that is a 410 shotgun. How can I find out if its original? The serial number is 184233.

The old factory records show that serial number 184233 was a Model 1893 shipped from the factory in 1899 in .38-55 caliber with a 26 inch octagon barrel.
The original Marlin 410 lever action shotguns were marked "Marlin 410" on the upper tang. They also had specific serial numbers assigned to them. Some had the letter "U" prefix, and other had no prefix, but numbered separately from other models. The shotguns also had a large, beavertail style forearm with finger grooves on each side.

Thanks for that, so this was made into a 410 later in its life. The bolt must have fit a 410 or replaced. Thanks its still a nice looking rifle and I my try shooting it some day. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS AS WRITTEN, NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS
