Marlin 1897/97

Post by P.G »

Hi,
I’m new to the group. I wonder if it is possible to tell if a Marlin 1897/97 with serial number 334725 had an octagon or a round barrel when new? I do not have more pictures at the moment. Thanks

Best regards

Petter

Petter;

Records show that is had a 24 inch round barrel when it left the factory in 1902.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

Thank you very much.
I was told that the gun was produced in 1906 based on the serial number, but 1902 is the correct year?
Again thanks for your answer.

Petter;

I gave you the wrong information. This Marlin Model '97 was shipped from the factory in late 1905, not 1902.
Sorry about that.......
