Marlin 1895 front sight

Post by Brent »

Did Marlin 1895 square bolts ever come with a front sight other than the German silver blade that is a post and bead in profile? Specifically, did they ever come with a hooded front sight? My 95 is anything but a prestine collector. However, one of the original things about it is the badly bent and worn front sight. I don't really want to get rid of it, but a hooded front sight is so much easier to see for me in sunny weather, I really would benefit from using one. I could simply swap out for a Lyman 17a but that doesn't really appeal to me. Perhaps there is a better solution.

I have seen 95's with a Beech (or is it Beach? I forget), but it really doesn't accomplish the shading that I need.
